Service Categorization in ESS
Categories serve to enhance user navigation and understanding by logically grouping available service and guided offerings. For administrators, managing these categories is executed from a distinct tab within the admin page.
Default Category Dynamics
Upon their creation, all services are initially housed within the default category. Notably:
- The default category can be renamed but not removed or added to.
- Services assigned to an alternative category are automatically uncoupled from the default one.
Creating a Service Category: Step-By-Step
-
Initiation: Click the “Add” button.
- Note that the limit for the amount of Service Categories is 20. When that amount is reached, the Add-button turns gray and no more categories can be added.
- Naming: Assign a name to your Service Category. For multilingual environments, ensure to translate the service category within the Languages tab immediately.
- Service Assignment: Post-translation, select the services for inclusion in your category using provided arrow buttons. A [symbol] denotes a service already affiliated with another category.
- Order Adjustment: Simply drag and drop category elements to establish your preferred order in the list.
- Translation & Deletion: In the list, a red exclamation mark flags categories lacking a translation. Use the small 'x' to delete a category — upon deletion, all associated services revert to the default category unless aligned with an alternate one.
Note: A category becomes immediately visible on the homepage upon having services assigned and published to it. Unpublished services may also be assigned, ensuring immediate categorization upon eventual publishing.

Visibility and Accessibility of Service Categories
Service category visibility adheres to role and site restrictions; only service categories and services pertinent to a user's role or site will be displayed upon login.
Problem domains and Chat features cannot be integrated into custom Service Categories and perpetually reside within the default category.
In aligning with user-experience optimization, considering service visibility, ease of access, and logical categorization is pivotal. Ensuring a straightforward, transparent navigational structure enhances user satisfaction and engagement with the service offerings available.
