Data Card Appearance

Data cards, shaped by templates, give ESM users access to stored information within ESM modules. These cards are the primary method for inputting information into ESM.

Illustrates a data card created using a SIM template, showing its appearance after information has been filled in. It's named after the primary attribute value, "Phone number," and is located in the "Mobile Devices" folder:

Data cards display only the information entered during their creation, but they can be updated if the user's profile permits editing.

The upcoming sections detail different attribute types, showcasing their appearance on data cards in both Edit and Create modes.

String Attribute

The string attribute is the most basic type, requiring no special settings:

Multi-value Attribute

This attribute type can hold multiple values, added by typing the value and either clicking the "+" button or pressing Enter.

Static Attribute

Static attributes display a list of predefined values for selection. In the screenshot below is a drop-down menu for a static attribute, with selection determined by Static value settings:

Multi-value Static Attribute

Similar to a static attribute but allows for multiple selections from a list of predefined values. Screenshot below showcases a multi-value static attribute with selections listed below the field:

Reference Attribute

Reference attributes link to another data card. They appear as a drop-down menu with a type-ahead search feature. In the screenshot below, a reference attribute with a pop-up window providing more details on hover.

External Reference

External references are used to refer to material outside of Efecte Service Management (ESM), such as web pages, documents, and other external resources. This allows users to link relevant external information directly within their data cards in ESM, enhancing the context and accessibility of the information.

When selecting a reference value, the target attributes (configured in the handler metadata, more information in Overview of the Handlers) is populated in real time, before the user saves the data card. When affected attributes are listed in a notification, and affected fields are highlighted (not supported in the Classic UI). Example:

The data used for updating is fetched from the attributes of the referred data card based on the metadata configuration. Example:

Note that ReferenceCopy needs to be configured by the admin.

Date Attribute

Allows for the selection of a date, with a calendar pop-up for easy picking.

The calendar pop-up for selecting a date:

Attribute Order

Attribute order, adjustable within the Edit class attributes view, determines the placement of attributes on a template and thus on the data cards.

Template Layout

The template layout editor, introduced in ESM version 2017.1, lets administrators decide how a data card is displayed in view and edit modes. Accessible under the Template tree in the Administration side, changes to the layout or content are saved with the "Save" button.

Efecte admin can also change an icon of the template by clicking the icon next to the template name

Re-arranging classes and customizing the template layout are possible through drag and drop. The "Reset" and "Restore default" buttons offer options to revert changes.

Administrators can add new containers to the layout, adjust class arrangements, and control the visibility of classes in view and edit modes. Layout adjustments automatically adapt to screen resolution, ensuring optimal display across devices.
