Executive Summary

The Efecte Self-Service 2 (ESS2) 2023.4.1 introduces new capabilities, such as admins' ability to configure the data presentation layer for a detailed view of the open cases and configuration of the reference fields in Override defaults.


The release introduces how to define a data presentation view for a template so that users can see more details on issues and orders. After the update, the presentation view can be defined even for templates that don't have a form defined. However, the template must be included in the "My Open Requests" dashboard to access the detailed view. In the same update, file attachments and comments are located on the same page where the issue details are visible. Note: this new data presentation needs to be enabled separately. 

In the 'Override defaults' configuration, administrators can define predefined values using reference fields, e.g., assigning an issue to a named support group or earmarking the case to a specific Service.

This version supports one of the following selected language: English (US), Finnish, German, Spanish, Polish, or Swedish.

Efecte Service Management version 2023.4.1.1 or newer.

New Features

ESP-7259 Detail view on each open issue

Release note

Administrators can define a presentation view for a template so ESS2 users can see the details of their open cases.

In the self-service's admin pages, a new navigation option, "Case presentation", is added under which all the presentation views can be created and accessed. Admins can create a presentation view for a template for which they can select a template. Only one presentation view can be defined for each template. When defining a Case presentation for the template, the admin can choose the attribute used for the page title and the attribute used for the Breadcrumb. The admin must also select the attribute to define the issue owner/reporter (required to view the details).

ESP-7287 Showing details on a case

Release note

Administrators can define what attributes to show to a user for case details. This feature allows the admin to include more information about the case, e.g., ticket ID or some other attributes that are not meant to be collected from the end users but are beneficial to show them when viewing detailed info on the case. When the end user is viewing an existing case, and a presentation view is defined, and in use, the end user can see the Detail attributes defined by the admin.

ESP-7778 Adding, showing, managing files on open cases

Release note

When the Case Presentation is enabled, administrators can specify an attribute to use for showing attached files. When viewing an existing case, and a presentation view is defined, and a File Attachment attribute has been selected, the end user can see existing files, download existing files, and add more files.
Note: The admin can specify a different file upload handler from the defined forms and the presentation view.

ESP-7791 Commenting on open cases

Release note

When data presentation is enabled, administrators shall enable bi-directional commenting through the new Case Presentation configuration area to the process they have configured. Commenting on the end-user user side will be located on the same page where case details are presented. Also, comments by the user will be displayed with their name, not as ‘You’.

ESP-7060 Override values for Reference fields

Release note

An admin can define Reference value also to the Override values so that they can define e.g. default support groups to each Form. To override defaults, the admin can select a single value reference attribute type. Note that in the override defaults config area, the admin can select any data card they have access, without a restriction of the permission user.
