Public Views

With Public views –feature dedicated ESM users can publish own reports to non-licensed internal users.

Non-licensed users must be registered agents in Efecte Identity Management (EIM) or Efecte Secure Access (ESA) before they can see shared views.

Following two report types can be shared under Public views:

  • List report
  • Graphical reports

Calendar views, Kanban views, Gantt views nor Dashboards cannot be saved/shared under Public views.

Configuring Public views

Following platform settings must be set to activate Public views:

  • reports.publicView.enable  - this platform setting enables or disables public view for non-root users. When the setting is set to true, all users can see new group of reports called "Public views" when at least one view is saved there. If the setting is false, then only root users are permitted to access “Public views” content.
  • auth.chain - For EIM integration "auth.chain" platform settings should contain also "servlet"

Users linked to role, which permission setting: “User can edit reports in public views” is enabled, can edit Public views in Workspace.

Using Public views

Available actions to ‘Public views’ -functionality are:

  • Creating Public views
  • Publishing Public views
  • Sharing Public views
  • Editing Public views

Public views are always executed with the view owner’s permissions (not the viewers permissions). Therefore, it is not recommended to create public views with root-level users.

Because the view is executed with the owner’s current permissions, please also note that changes in the owner’s permissions might reflect the scope of results in the public view. For example, if the owner is granted more permissions, the public view’s scope of permissions might also be expanded (depends on view conditions).

If the viewer drills down to graphical reports in the Public view, ownership changes to one who is logged into Efecte ESM. Drilling down to data is not possible for non-licensed users – they only see published view. It is not possible to open data cards to view or edit mode from the list views of the Public view.

Link to Public view can be copied by clicking the icon next to report name.

After that press “Copy link” from popup window.

The copied link can be shared e.g., via Efecte Self-Service to end users.

Once non-ESM-licensed users open the link, they are redirected to Efecte Identity Management login window. After successful login, they will see the published view. If users have rights to login to the ESM as a licensed user, they will see Login button above the view. After logging in to ESM the user is directed to user’s default view.

Public views can be replaced by saving new report over the existing. This action may affect the report’s results because the replaced report might look different than the previous one. In addition, the newly replaced report uses permissions of the replacing user, not permissions of the original creator.

Public view can be disabled by deleting it. After that the link doesn't work anymore.
