Creating a Tenant in ESS (Local On-Premise Installation)
Creating a Tenant in ESS (Local On-Premise Installation)
Prerequisite: Have the identity provider metadata file available.
Note! If you need a new tenant in a private, dedicated, or shared cloud ESS installation, please contact Efecte Service Desk.
The guidance below applies only to local on-premise installations and is advised to be followed by an Efecte consultant.
Tenants are created in the Global Administration view (https://admin.{your_application_domain}/globaladmin.seam).
Create a New Tenant:
- Click Add Tenants.
- Type in the tenant name. Names should always start with a capital letter.
- Enter the host name. This should be in lowercase and can contain letters, numbers, and hyphens with a minimum length of three characters. Note that the host name cannot be changed later. Ensure that the domain name {host name}.{your_application_domain} points to the Efecte Self-Service server.
- Select the System language.
- Enter the Identity Provider URL and click Create. Your new tenant will then appear in the tenant navigation list.
- Continue importing the Identity Provider metadata.
- After creating the tenant, you must configure tenant properties and add at least one site, or users won't have access. Adjust these settings via the Tenant administration URL button.
- Define the Organizational Unit for the "All Users" site so that the desired users are associated with the site. At least one OU must be set.
- Under Integrations > Organization, choose the Organization Connector for Active Directory Settings. Click Show Test Data to retrieve users via the chosen connector.
- If you want customer administrators to have access to the tenant administration panel, add them to the administrative AD groups in the Settings tab.
Note! To test the new tenant:
- Log in to Windows as a user in the tenant’s AD.
- Open a browser and navigate to the provided URL (e.g., https://mycompany.ess.provider.com).
- Ensure that you can log into the Efecte Self-Service and view the main page.
Tip! Using the value "null" in the Cost Center attribute will hide the Cost Center field in the Confirm Order view when using the LDAP connector.
Tenant Specific Settings
Tenant-specific features and settings are primarily controlled from the tenant administration. Additionally, a limited set of features is available for tenants in global administration.
