showCode metadata is used with reference attributes. It can be used for fetching information (attribute value) from referred data cards to be added after the reference attribute value. The showCode metadata value must be one of the attribute codes in the referred template.

showCode metadata affects the template information in two ways as follows:

1. In data card view showCode configuration causes attribute values to be retrieved from the referred data card as illustrated in the following picture. (The layout for included values is the same as with Expand references automatically functionality.)

   In the previous picture, the Service Desk ticket template includes a Customer attribute that refers to a template called Person. The customer field of the data card represents the reference template's name together with specified (contact) person name (Person: Success Ltd./Baby Almira). The desired attribute value is fetched from the referred data card by configuring its attribute code in the reference attribute metadata as showCode value. In this example configuration, the reference attribute included to the referrer data card is Department.
   

   When using the Expand references automatically functionality, showCode metadata can be used to limit which attributes are included. (By default, Expand references automatically causes all attributes to be included.)

    
2. In table search results, showCode includes attribute values from the referred data card as illustrated in the following picture.

   The search results table displays the included reference attribute value (Sales and marketing) together with the referred attribute value (Baby Almira).
   The desired attribute value is fetched from the referred data cards by defining its attribute code in the referrer attribute metadata as showCode value as illustrated in the picture below.
