Attribute Metadata - Transform settings (enableButtonTransform)

Transform: Enable Transform Button

Transform: Enable transform button metadata is used with reference attributes only. The transformButton metadata creates a 'transform' button that can be used to create a new target datacard for the reference attribute. The new data card is transformed out of the data card to be edited. The metadata value has to be either 'true' or 'false'. Label of the transformation button is by default value of presentation text text_create_new. Label value can be overwritten in template's localization editor. If the metadata does not exist or transformation for target reference template hasn't been configured, the 'transform' button is not shown.

If attribute handler doesn't support data card transformations, these settings are not valid.

Transformation rules are defined in a same way as normal transformations. To enable transformation, you have to define the transformation-rules in the template-editor for in question reference-template.

If reference is fixed to only a one template, the next view after clicking the "Transform"-button is the data card edit view. If reference is fixed to multiple templates, user will be asked to select the target template. Only those templates are selectable, which the data card can be transformed to.

It may be a good idea to set "showButtonNewEntity" "false", when using this feature.

Table 1. Required Attribute Metadata

Name Value   Description
Transform: Enable transform button (enableButtonTransform) true/false If true, shows the transform button.

Transform: Back to Editing Original After Transform

This setting determines the navigation after a transformation target data card is saved.

When performing a transformation from one data card to another, the data card user starts the transformation from is referred to as transformation source. A new data card that is created in result of the transformation is referred to as transformation target. Normally when editing a data card, saving the edited data card takes the user to the view mode of the saved data card. In other words, user stays with the same data card after it is saved.

With Transform: Back to editing original after transform it is possible to alter the normal behaviour. If the value of this meta data is set to true, after saving the transformation target data card, the user will be taken back to editing the transformation source (original) data card. This way it is possible to create multiple transformed data cards from the same transformation source without having to manually navigate to the original DC each time the transformed DC is saved.

Transform: Multiple Target Data Cards

This setting defines whether the source data card can be transformed into multiple target data cards. The default value is false. If it is set to be true, the transform target number selector will be available in the target data card edit UI, and multiple copies of target data card shall be created.

Transform: Open Transformed Data Cards to New Window

If this setting is set to true, transformations in data card edit mode are opened to new browser window.

Transform: Use the Same Source Reference for Every Transform

When this setting is set to true, reference from the source data card will be copied to all new transformed data cards. This needs to be enabled especially in the cases when creating chained data cards, and they all should refer to the same source data card. To create the reference of the source data card to the transformed data cards, please check transformation rules in the template editor.

Note: supported only together when Transform: Open transformed data cards to new window is set to true.

Table 2. Optional Attribute Metadata

Name Value   Description
Transform: Back to editing original after transform true/false If true, user is taken back to editing the original (transformation source) data card after the transformation target data card is saved. If false, after the transformation target data card is saved, user is taken to view mode of the transformation target data card.
Transform: Multiple target data cards true/false If true, transforming multiple predefined data cards by clicking the transform button is possible.
Transform: Open transformed data cards to new window true/false If true, transformed data cards are shown in new window (source data card will be automatically saved before transformation).
Transform: Use the same source reference for every transform true/false If true, reference from the source data card will be copied to all new transformed data cards.
